Tooth extraction

I had my 2 upper wisdom teeth removed about 10 or so years ago by an oral surgeon in Oshawa. He used IV sedation and put me right out. These two teeth were removed about 1.5 yrs apart, but the procedure was the same. I came out of sedation & my Mom took me home after both extractions. Tuesday, I had an oral surgeon here in Toronto remove the lower right wisdom tooth. He used local sedation and nitris (laughing gas). I was fine afterwards and took myself home via public transit. With the first two, I was given antibiotics and Tylenol #3′s. Was told to call if there were any problems. I used about a half dozen for the pain each time.

This time I was given an antibiotic and percocets. I’ve dived into the percs head first and initially they only take the edge off, but has improved a bit. I’ve been using an ice pack to cut off the inflammation before it starts. Numbs out my cheek, which is nice. But what is it that makes this time more painful than the last? The location? The manner of extraction? The doctor? The different sedation? The fibromyalgia? The fact that I ran errands afterwards instead of going home? The fact that I could not keep gauze in place after the surgery? Maybe a combination of or all of the above.

I do have the tooth tho. Why doesn’t the tooth fairy visit adults who loose a tooth? Adults go through a lot more to get a tooth free of the mouth than kids, and adults need the money for the extraction.
